Food Grade Bulk Bags

During the production process, it is vital that no alien particles or threads are present which could come into contact or contaminate the food product being packaged. To ensure this standard is achieved, a stringent number of safety processes and checks are carried out in a sterile environment, these include;

  • All materials used are 100% virgin grade materials
  • Ultrasonic cutting machinery is used to prevent any loose threads or fibres
  • Sewing machines are fitted with heat sealing cutting equipment and vacuum systems
  • Light tables on every finishing line
  • All seams are sewn externally eliminating the chance of any loose fibres or threads within the body of the bag
  • All bulk bags are meticulously vacuumed on every finishing line
  • Heat treated or plastic pallets are used to load bags onto
  • The bags can also be supplied with food grade low-density polyethylene/linear low-density polyethylene or foil liners which can be inserted and shaped to fit the dimensions of the bulk bag

Anti-Static Bulk Bags

Anti-Static bags are required when filling or discharging bulk bags (FIBC) with rapidly flowing fine materials, such as powders.

These materials can often create a build-up of electrostatic charge which can be extremely dangerous, they can cause shocks to operatives and lead to accidents. Static in environments that are flammable, or combustible can cause explosions. It is, therefore, essential that static charges are managed and removed at source. There are four types of fabrics used in the construction of bulk bags, these are listed below;

ADR & UN Certified Bulk Bags and Soft Sided Packaging

Dangerous goods are those which have been classified to have hazardous materials in all or part of them according to international regulations. The various types of materials are then grouped into 9 classes for identification.

The carriage of dangerous and hazardous goods in bulk bags by road, sea and rail carry the risk of accidents, leading to possible spillage or leakage which could create a risk such as fire, explosions, chemical burn or an environmental issue. Regulations are in place to ensure that those who come into contact during the transportation process, or the emergency services in the case of an incident, can quickly identify the materials being transported to provide a suitable response. These regulations are known as ADR or Accord Dangereux Routier (European regulations concerning the international transport of dangerous goods by road).

It is, therefore, a legal requirement that dangerous goods are packaged in containers which are ‘type approved’ or certified to UN standards as suitable for transportation of these materials. UN Certified Packaging is marked clearly to indicate hazardous materials are being transported.
