PP Woven Bags Manufacturing Process: How Sack Production Works

Durable, reusable and recyclable, PP woven sacks are top of the list for sustainable options.

Here’s how they’re made:

1. Raw Material Selection

The first step is sourcing high-quality polypropylene (PP) resin. Known for its strength and durability, its performance is increased by adding:

UV stabilisers: Reducing the impact of sunlight exposure during transportation and storage.

Antioxidants: Preventing resin degradation from heat, oxygen, and other environmental impacts.

Slip agents: Making the bags smoother for easy handling.

Anti-block agents: Improving separation, especially in humid conditions.

Colourants: Adding pigments and dyes for appearance.

Flame retardants: Increasing resistance to ignition and burning.

2. Melting the PP Resin

The PP resin pellets are fed into an extruder and heated to their melting point (usually around 180-220°C or 356-428°F). The extruder then forces the melted resin through a die, creating long, continuous flat tapes.

3. Extrusion Drawing of PP Tapes

These flat tapes are the base material for the woven fabric. Circular weaving machines interlace them to create that recognisable woven pattern.

4. Coating and Lamination

To bring extra strength and water resistance, the material’s coated or laminated, making sure the bags can withstand countless conditions.

5. Printing

Bags can be printed with logos, product information, or branding. (It’s usually flexographic printing for PP woven bags)

6. Cutting and Sewing

The woven fabric is cut into the needed bag size. Skilled craftsmen stitch the edges, creating the final bag shape before handles or straps are attached.

7. Baling

The finished bags are baled for easy storage and transportation, ready to be used across countless industries.

8. Quality Assurance and Final Inspection

Once the bags are made, extra finishing touches can be added, like handles, drawstrings or other closers.

And, throughout the entire process, rigorous quality control measures are taken to make sure that the final bags meet the highest standards.
